Arber Borici

Arber@SEGAL

Arber-BoriciI started my PhD under the supervision of Dr. Daniela Damian at SEGAL in September 2011. My research interests so far have been in the application of information theory and entropic measures on a vast domain of subjects, such as image compression or digital forensics.

With respect to software engineering, I hold the belief that the respective environments could be construed as complex systems, wherein one observes self-organization, emergence, adaptation, and evolution until the process terminates. Thus, using information-theoretic metrics to understand the complexity of software development worlds is one of my current major research objectives. In light of that, my newly-developed research interests fall into the areas of empirical software engineering and team collaboration.

More about me

I maintain a personal blog called The Rationale. For totality purposes, I recently started a new blog -- Rough PhD Musings -- wherein I intend to transcribe my contemplations, opinions, and facts as I travel through my PhD journey.

I have a strange attraction to foreign languages. In addition to Albanian, Italian, and Turkish, I've been attempting to resume my autodidactic studies of Latin, Chinese, and Russian, the three of which seem to me to be very logical languages.

I can be reached at borici<at>uvic<dot>ca. You could also follow me on twitter, google+, and linkedin
